Project Engineer
BoxPower provides plug-and-play solar microgrids for fast, clean, reliable, and affordable energy. We have worked in locations from Alaska to Puerto Rico and everywhere in between, serving a range of clients — disaster relief, rural electrification, investor-owned utilities, remote agriculture, off-grid commercial, and more.
Our team and pipeline of projects are both growing rapidly — we need support in project engineering and development. We’re looking for a young project engineer to support a range of technical and logistical project development tasks. Project Engineer
BoxPower is seeking a motivated project engineer, early in their career and eager to delve into the technical world of microgrid design and installation.
Experience & Skills
- Proficient in AutoCAD.
- Familiar with PV Syst & HOMER, or equivalent experience with PV/Microgrid modeling software (e.g. Aurora).
- Experience with microgrid / solar design & document creation (e.g. site plans, site layouts, single line diagrams, elevation views).
- Experience working with AHJs and building codes.
- Baseline electrical knowledge as it relates to solar PV, batteries, inverters, generators, single phase, three phase, benefits & drawbacks of AC vs. DC coupled microgrids.
- Ability to orient design ideas based on limited site information (e.g. photos & coordinates)
- Knowledge about UL listings, regulatory and permitting compliance for generation & energy storage projects
- Familiar with high voltage battery designs (a plus)
- Knowledge about EV Charging standards (a plus)
- Flexibility and capability to undertake project management tasks (e.g. building project timeline triggers with MS Project)
Duties
- Create technical drawings for projects and AHJs
- Workshop design ideas with BoxPower engineering team
- Support technical project development

- 4-year degree in related field (Preferred)

Compensation
- Healthcare Reimbursement Agreement: $350 per month in flexible medical spending – anything from gym memberships to massages to insurance payments.
