Field Services Manager

Field Services Manager

BoxPower provides turnkey design, construction, and operation services to rural utilities in California and is rapidly expanding in other geographies. BoxPower is in the early stages of forming a dedicated Field Services team to keep up with its rapid growth and our expanding portfolio of signed operation and maintenance contracts.   Field services provided by BoxPower include, testing, commissioning, operation, and maintenance for solar, battery, and generator remote-grid systems. BoxPower is seeking an experienced Field Services Manager to oversee a team of electricians, and technicians, while providing all necessary safety training and guidance for site superintendents, engineers, and maintenance providers executing all of our on-site responsibilities.  

Objectives of this role: 

  • Develop an organizational chart and hiring plan for BoxPower’s field-services team 
  • Develop an onboarding and training plan for field service technicians with a focus on safety and OSHA compliance 
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and programs to improve field operations efficiency and quality of service 
  • Explore outsourcing strategies for field services to effectively scale in new geographies 

Daily and monthly responsibilities:

  • Training and supervising employees in the field who are responsible for installation, commissioning, repair, or maintenance of BoxPower equipment 
  • Ensuring that technicians have adequate training, supplies, and equipment to do their jobs efficiently 
  • Monitoring field service staff to ensure they are following company and customer policies and procedures 
  • Perform Root cause analysis to ensure O&M contracts and warranty claims are properly managed

Skills and qualifications: 

  • 3+ years of technical field services experience 
  • Experience performing root cause analysis for inverters, batteries, generators, and other power electronics 
  • OSHA certified for maintenance of high voltage electrical equipment, rigging, and construction (preferred)
  • Technical proficiency with solar, battery, and generator programming, commissioning, testing, and repairs (preferred)
