BoxPower's containerized microgrid technology was developed at Princeton University with National Science Foundation funding in 2011.
Early deployments focused on rapid disaster relief, backup resilience, and remote power for tribal nations. In 2020, BoxPower began deploying microgrids as a distribution line alternative for utilities including Liberty Utilities and PG&E. Today, that same modular, rapidly deployable technology addresses the interconnection crisis: adding distributed capacity, bridging power for queued projects, and enabling flexible interconnection that puts capacity online without waiting on grid upgrades.
