BoxPower's controller manages dispatch, protects grid interconnections, and maintains compliance across off-grid and grid-connected configurations. It comes preconfigured for solar, BESS, generator, and utility source inputs, with 100% local control logic, so the system runs with full autonomy regardless of connectivity.
Remote monitoring and access are available in parallel. CBOX is future-proofed by design: the same hardware package enables off-grid, grid-connected, flexible interconnection, and distributed capacity so the project can evolve with changing needs.
RTAC-based (SEL Real-Time Automation Controller)
100% local control logic
Native DNP3, Modbus, and SunSpec compatibility
SCADA / DERMS integration via API or on-site gateway
SOC 2 and ISO 27001 certified controller
Full audit log for utility verification and reporting
Comes fully wired and pre-integrated
Technology-agnostic: capable of dispatching renewables, conventional generation, and storage. You’re not tied to one manufacturer’s stack.
One controller, one integration: The same controller across off-grid, bridging, flexible interconnection, and demand response use cases, so you don’t buy or learn a new system each time your design parameters change.
Utility-compliant out of the box: Designed to comply with utility dynamic operating envelope requirements and load-curtailment parameters.
Revenue-ready: VPP-ready for demand response and capacity market participation.
On a voltage-constrained feeder serving a Tribal community, traditional interconnection would require a full feeder upgrade to supply capacity for tribal housing expansion. BoxPower is developing a controller alongside a 400 kW / 1.3 MWh battery storage system as a faster, lower-cost alternative. The controller is designed to enforce time-varying import and export limits at the point of interconnection in real time.
